I just got some better pictures of the little kittens:        There’s not much exciting going on here today. It’s raining outside. Has been all morning. Steve is working today. So I imagine the only thing he’s going to want to do on Father’s Day is sleep. He doesn’t normally work on Saturdays….he usually works Monday-Thursday, 7:00-5:30, roughly. But for the last month he’s been working Fridays, as well as very late many days of the week. Last week his paycheck was more than twice a normal one, and will be this coming week also. The one 2 weeks ago was not quite double, but still looked pretty nice. But we have learned that whenever it looks like we’ll have “extra money,” it just means we should watch for something to happen where that money will be needed. It’s actually not a pessimistic way to look at it. It just means that we know God provides the money when we need it. We just don’t always know what the need is going to be, ahead of time. And we have never had a lot of money when it wasn’t needed for something. And I mean an actual need, not just a want. Part of the need is a new AC at church. And recently, we’ve had to replace some car parts. We’ve actually taken the car in for someone else to do the work, and had the money to pay for it. Steve hates working on cars. He does have to replace a connection on my car, though, so the AC will work. I’m told Brandon and Michael are supposed to move some of the furniture today, to the new apartment. But I don’t know how much they will get done. It’s been raining a lot. Rachael is working today, so she can’t do much in the way of moving. Next weekend, Mark is going to help us move some stuff, and I’m going to cook. I think Brandon and Rachael are coming for lunch tomorrow after church. I have filet mignon in the refrigerator. I still have to go and get gifts for all the father’s at church. Mark and Brandon will give out gifts in the morning service. Do you ever wonder what to get your dad for Father’s Day? Consider yourself lucky. I have to shop for all the fathers in our church!   We are studying in the book of Numbers. In Numbers 16, the Israelites are in the desert, and a large group of them began grumbling against their leader, Moses. God is the one who put Moses in charge, but the Levites and a few Reubenites began to get their little feelings hurt over it. They resented it that Moses was in a position of authority. They resented Aaron being the priest. They said all of their group was just as holy as Moses and Aaron. They didn’t like taking orders. Not unlike many churches where members get cross-ways with their leadership and start griping. Anyway, Moses told the ring leader, Korah, that he and all his followers were to appear before the Lord the following day. Korah gathered all his cohorts and they met with Moses and Aaron. And God told Moses and Aaron to move away from the tents of Korah, and Dathan and Abiram, the ring leader’s two “deputies,” so that God could put an end to this dissension. There were 250 others who followed them, but these 3 were the 3-ring circus. Moses and Aaron asked God if He would really destroy the whole group for this, because it was really only Korah who was whipping up the grumbling against the leadership. Korah got the others on his side. Num 16:23-24…..23 Then the LORD said to Moses, 24 “Say to the assembly, ‘Move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.'” And Moses warned all the others to back up from these men and their possessions, and not to even so much as touch something these men owned, because these men were wicked. And Moses said that if these men died a natural death, they would know God did not send Moses. But if the earth split and swallowed these men and all they had, everyone would know that God is the one who had put Moses and Aaron in the positions they had. The earth did split and swallow up the 3, and all they had, including their families. When God said he would put a stop to the grumbling, He was serious. But the rest of the following ran in fear, crying that the earth would swallow them, too. And God sent fire to consume them. Num 16:41-17:1…..41 The next day the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. “You have killed the LORD’s people,” they said. *Sigh* The Israelites were sometimes a little slow to catch on. They did not learn from the demonstration of the previous day. 42 But when the assembly gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron and turned toward the Tent of Meeting, suddenly the cloud covered it and the glory of the LORD appeared. 43 Then Moses and Aaron went to the front of the Tent of Meeting, 44 and the LORD said to Moses, 45 “Get away from this assembly so I can put an end to them at once.” And they fell facedown. And that’s when Mark yelled, “FIRE IN THE HOLE!”    It cracked everybody up. In case anyone is interested….here’s how that story ends: 46 Then Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer and put incense in it, along with fire from the altar, and hurry to the assembly to make atonement for them. Wrath has come out from the LORD; the plague has started.” 47 So Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly. The plague had already started among the people, but Aaron offered the incense and made atonement for them. 48 He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped. 49 But 14,700 people died from the plague, in addition to those who had died because of Korah. 50 Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, for the plague had stopped. God was tired of the people griping about the leaders He had put in place. He was tired of their griping in general. It didn’t matter what God did…the Israelites didn’t appreciate it. So he took out the ones who were the trouble makers. It not only served to stop the griping, but it was an example to the others: You go against God’s leaders (which is going against God)…it’s not looking too good for you.
