I’ve been thinking again…..

Yes, I know that scares some of you.

And here’s something else that really ticks me off…..people voting for things that have absolutely nothing to do with any political issues. That would be people who vote for Obama because he could be the first black president. Or people who vote for Hillary because they want to see a woman in the White House. How ludicrous! I think people should have to take a test on the issues before they can vote.

But I’m gonna tell ya…..I’m hoping some of those people are not smart enough to find their way to the polls.

Last night I was lying awake thinking, and praying, and thought about the post below. I thought about all the people who insist on living the way God says not to live. I was thinking about all the people who deny there even is a God. And this thought kept coming to mind:

He loves them all. It says so right in His word:

John 3:16….“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  NIV

God IS love:

1 John 4:7-9….. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.  NIV

But I think that human beings get confused. We terribly misunderstand the word love.

We believe that love gives a warm, fuzzy feeling. We say that love is blind. But God’s love isn’t blind. He sees everything.

Parents who love their children, are not blind either, if they know what’s right. Loving parents correct their children. When they see that child make a mistake, they want them to learn the correct way, before the wrong way causes them considerable problems in  life. God is the same way, because parenting is modeled on God’s correction of us. (Just please note that human parents are not perfect like God, therefore they make mistakes.)

People who don’t have a clue what God is about, tend to think that God just looooooves them, and approves of everything they do. And that’s where they go wrong.

Have you had a child, or even another relative or friend,  that was doing things that you knew would cause them considerable trouble and unhappiness in their life? You love that person sooooo much, that you agonize over their situation. In fact, it kind of feels like your soul is being ripped out, because you want that person – the one that you love so much – to do the right thing. To yield to God’s direction in their life. You see them going against so much that God says in His word, and you pray that He can get their attention before it’s too late. Or without doing anything too drastic. Sometimes God has to use drastic measures to get someone’s attention.

Now I think we’re talking more the kind of love that God feels toward his creation. His love knows no limits, yet he cannot and will not reward people who live like he says not to live. In fact, in the end, those people will be severely punished, if they never accepted Jesus as their savior. But He still loves them.

And the ripping out of our souls over the love we feel for a wayward child, is nothing compared to what God felt when his son was killed on a cross, giving his very life to atone for the sins of even those who do not love Him back.

I was watching Barack Obama tonight (Tuesday night), as he made a speech in San Antonio. The things he said in the speech sounded good….sounded like things we all wanted. I can certainly see why he appeals to a lot of voters, especially the young ones.

He talked about making sure our young people have a rosy future, with college educations. He promises to make sure that nobody’s mortgage will double in 2 weeks, an example he used in the speech. He promises that hungry children will be fed and everybody will have affordable health care. He gave an example of a college student going to school full time, and working full time after school, to pay for her sister’s medical bills. He promised tax cuts to people who need them.

Those are all good sounding things. They are also things that no president can promise.

I was apalled that there were many Republicans crossing over to vote for him, 1) because they liked what he said and thought we needed “fresh ideas”, and 2) to keep Hillary from getting the nomination.

They voted for him eventhough his moral standards are some of the lowest. He is not pro-life. He calls himself a Christian, but thinks gays should have legal civil unions. He said he did not believe in gays having marriage, but there is no real difference in marriage and a legal civil union. He discounts “an obscure passage in Romans,” in favor of the Sermon on the Mount. But you cannot just discount one section of scripture because you don’t like it. GOD WROTE IT ALL!!

How can you dare to call yourself a Christian, but support abortion – the taking of a human life? How can you dare to call yourself a Christian, and support same-sex unions?

Here’s that “obscure passage”:

Rom 1:18-32……18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. NIV

That certainly doesn’t appear to be very obscure to me. FRC Action president Tony Perkins said this:

As for St. Paul’s writing in Romans, it is distinguished not by its obscurity but by its clarity and consistency with all of Christian teaching about the nature of sexuality and marriage.

Here’s the scripture he referred to from the Sermon on the Mount:

Luke 6:30-31….. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you. NIV

In other words, if we, as heterosexuals, want marriage, then we should give the gays and lesbians what they want. After all, they should have the same things we have. Hogwash. GOD SAID DON’T DO IT.

People are falling for his lies. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. (Don’t misunderstand….Hillary is not any better, but people are not clamoring to her, talking about how she’s a fresh idea for Washington.)

He makes me think of this scripture:

Matt 24:24-25…..24 For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great miraculous signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones. NLT

The anti-Christ will charm people. They will flock to him because he will promise them the world. He will promise peace in the world. He will appear to be a good thing. He will appear to be the savior of the world. But the truth will be revealed…..only after it’s too late.

  1. It is disturbing. I just try to remember that the Lord knows what is happening and he cares.  He will have His way, even if the wrong person is elected. God still used Pharoh to accomplish His will.
    Have a good day.

  2. @lindaintennessee – Hi, Linda….the thing I believe is that the “wrong” person will not be elected. It might be the wrong person in our eyes, but God puts kings and presidents in their places. And there may be a reason for this man to be elected. He allowed the ungodly to destroy his own chosen ones, because they refused to obey Him. I’m afraid that will happen in our own country.
Yet it’s all in God’s hands.
2 Chron 7:14-16…..14 if my people , who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.  NIV

  3. @buana – Hi, Jill. I’m supposed to be busy right now. We have the business meeting tonight, so I have to work on the books. Thanks for coming by. I’m trying to make it around to see everybody, but it might be later tonight. :heartbeat:

  4. I’m afraid of both obama and hillary–either one getting the presidency scares me, even though I’m not impressed with what republicans are going to do with our healthcare crisis.  it’s hard to vote when you don’t agree with any of the candidates completely, but I certainly never could vote for obama or clinton…

  5. I know what you mean, PB. McCain got the Republican nomination, but he was not my choice. I will vote for him to keep Hillary or Barack out.
I wonder how much of our “health care crisis” is really not as bad as we think. It’s expensive, but those who are poor and/or without insurance can get care at county clinics and hospitals. I know many in our church that do just that. And I do know that some who don’t have insurance, are not necessarily unable to afford it. I know of a family member that for many years did not have it, just because they did not want to. They could have afforded it.
Lots and lots of our emergency rooms are full with people who are illegal immigrants. Of course, they don’t have insurance or money. That’s why they are there…because they can’t be turned away. The night we took Beth to the ER because we thought she was having an ovarian cyst rupture, we were – I’d be willing to bet – the only ones in that ER that had insurance at all.
I understand not turning away people who really need help, but many of these are children who just need a bottle of Robitussin. Our youth/music minister’s wife is in charge of staffing at one of our large hospitals, but she use to be an ER charge nurse. She said the ER is always full of kids who just have runny noses. She always wanted to tell them to just go to Walgreens and get Robitussin. But she could not do that. So they had to treat them there, and then the hospital never sees a dime from them. And on top of that, the hospitals have to staff nurses that speak Spanish, because so many of the patients don’t speak English.
If the government is going to mandate that hospitals can’t turn anyone away, then they need to provide clinics where these people can go, even at night. They aren’t truly ill enough to need an ER, but they sure stop up the system for those who really need it.

  6. ticks me off…..people voting for things that have absolutely nothing to do with any political issues — Whew! I thought there for a moment that I was going to get the hammer – :hammer: — cuz I have been voting for American Idol — 😆 Such a relief that I am still in your good graces, since that isn’t what you were talking about!:laugh: Muchliest, Lady!:love:

  7. Preach on Sister!!!  I’m glad you posted about Obama’s comments on gays and lesbians.  I wanted to do it this week but I am still trying to get my head back above water from work.  So, yes I am still alive.  Maybe I’ll be able to post sometime this weekend since it looks like we are about to get snowed in again with another Winter Storm Watch.  YUK!

  8. @wolfpacwife14 – Hi, Sue…..I’t I’m sure the same storm that just came through here. Down this far south, we didn’t get snow (just lots of rain), but the Dallas area got snowed in. Right now the wind is howling so hard, it’s blowing things around in the yard. Good thing the dogs are fairly low to the ground :ROTFL:
