We found a home for 2 homeless kittens tonight. No…not our house, at least not longer than tonight. The friend of a girl Rachael works with, had 2 three month old kittens she had to give away because the place she lives doesn’t allow pets. So they had them at the vet for several days trying to find a home. If they did not find a home by tonight, they were going to a shelter.
So today, our youth/music minister’s wife said her sister wanted kittens, and she wondered if we wanted to give some of ours away. I told her no, but Rachael had 2 at the clinic that needed a home. After lots of phone calls, we found out her sister does want them. Rach brought them over here for tonight, and we’ll get them to the lady tomorrow. This is Harley (the gray one – a little girl) and Diesel (a little boy):
Read Renee’s post. It’s long, but there’s a lot of good Obama information there.
A good article: Obama’s 95% Illusion
And I just got this in an email from the Media Research Center:
With less than a week before Election Day, the L.A. Times has decided to withhold a potentially explosive video featuring presidential candidate Barack Obama and Rashid Khalidi, a pro-terrorist radical and one-time spokesman for the late PLO head Yasser Arafat, rather than allow the public to view the video and make up their own minds.
According to the L.A. Times report, the video shows Obama reminiscing about meals prepared by Khalidi’s wife, and “conversations that had challenged his thinking, ” but released no other details of the video.
If the L.A. Times professes to be in the news business, it should reveal all the news, not suppress it.
I got this in an email: The Stealing of America. So in checking it out to find out if it was indeed written by Charlie Daniels, I found his Soapbox on the band’s website. Interesting reading. He has a lot to say about Obama. Click on the 2008 Archives link on the site.
Beth is at Walmart. She went to visit her friend Myatt. He use to work at Walmart, too, but he went in the Air Force, and is now stationed at Aviano Air Base in Italy. That’s where Ethan spent 2 years. Myatt is home for a visit right now. So she’s going to pick up a few things that I forgot to put on my list yesterday when she went to Walmart for me.
Steve is supposed to come home tomorrow!
That’s my happy dance
On Sunday morning, our pastor preached on adoption. Think about the meaning of adoption….to take by choice into a relationship voluntarily the child of other parents as one’s own. I know many adopted people, including my own husband. The rights of the biological parents are terminated, and a new set of parents take the child to raise.
We, as Christians, are all adopted. Because of sin entering the world, we are all born into the household of Satan. But God devised a way to adopt us into his own household. But in order to do that, the rights of Satan have to be terminated. When we accept Jesus Christ, and we are adopted into God’s household, Satan no longer has any right to us. We can no longer live in the original household.
Eph 2:19…..19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, NIV
That doesn’t mean he won’t try to trip us up. He will do everything in his power to keep us from being a good witness, and taking others to Heaven with us. And he doesn’t give up easily, when one of his desires to be adopted into God’s household.
But there are many who call themselves Christian, who have never moved out of Satan’s household. They still live according to Satan’s house rules all the time.
2 Cor 6:17-18…..17 “Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” 18 “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” NIV
When human parents set out ot adopt, they usually have standards to look for. Sometimes they set out to adopt the most perfect child they can find. Humans can make a “wish list” of things they want in a child. But God didn’t do that. He adopted us from the ugliest…the worst…household of all…Satan’s household.
Rom 5:7-10….. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! NIV
Some are not adopted. We all know that. But it is not because God doesn’t want them to be. It isn’t because God doesn’t “pick” them. Some are not adopted because of rebellion. They’ve heard the word, but they do not believe God is faithful. They still want to “have fun” in the sinful world – the household of Satan. Or maybe they have heard the word and plan to obey….later. Ever heard someone say, “I’ve got plenty of time?” No they don’t.
But the thing I wanted to point out most is that God planned this way of adoption right from the very beginning.
Eph 1:3-6…..3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will- 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. NIV
Some people read that as God only picked a few people to go to Heaven. Not true. He did not say, “You and you, come on up, but because you didn’t get picked, you go on to Hell.” How would that be a just God? That interpretation is the exact opposite of what God’s word says.
John 3:16…..“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. NIV
Rom 10:13…..13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” NIV
Rev 22:17…..17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. NIV
God determined ahead of time – He planned from the beginning – that we should all accept Jesus Christ and be His children. That’s what “predestined” means. He planned it all out ahead of time, to provide a way, so that we could all be in Heaven with Him. But built into His plan is free will. He wants us to accept Him, but He gives us the choice. He made the provision available to everyone, not just some, but we must make the choice.
1 Cor 2:9-10…..9 However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him “- 10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. NIV
Have you made the choice? Don’t wait till it’s too late.
