By the renewing of your mind….

2:30 a.m….I just thought I would let you know that I have deleted a “friend” because she cannot stop lying. Her blog is Pinkbarbie21. I know that some of you are also on her friends list, so I’m trying to give you a heads up. I deleted her several months back for some humongous lies I caught her in. She came back and said she would not lie anymore. She had made up some unbelievable stories about her life. It’s filled with so much drama, I knew it wasn’t real.

So I added her back as a friend, but told her that if I even suspected she was lying again, I would delete her for good. Well, she recently posted pictures of the fires in California, and said she took them. But I found some of the photos online, and one was actually taken May 8, 2007. So if you remain on her friends list, just beware. I’ve warned you.

Rom 12:2…. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is. NLT

Have you ever thought that you just can’t make yourself not participate in the customs of this sinful world? Do you think that you’d miss things….like drinking, premarital sex, using the occasional (or quite common) “4 letter word,” or looking at a little porn every now and then? Maybe you are thinking those are mild things, and you don’t see how it could be harmful to use them. You know…those Christians don’t have any fun. How can they have fun if they aren’t allowed to do any of those things?

And you don’t think God is really your thing anyway. You see him as a crutch, and you don’t need him. You just can’t see how God could possibly change you. You really don’t want to turn loose of those things.

The truth is that God CAN change your mind. He can change the way you think. But He isn’t going to reveal that to those who are not His children. So the first thing is to accept Him as your savior, and read His word. Obey His commandments.

When you do those things…which means you must just trust and do what He says…you will see that your mind begins to change. You start wanting to do right, and not wrong. You begin wanting to obey Him even more.

After He changes your thinking, then He can reveal to you the things He wants you to do. And you will see that doing His will…His good, pleasing, and perfect will…is what you want to do. The old things will no longer appeal to you.

Don’t believe me? Try it.

I had physical therapy today (well…Friday. I haven’t slept yet, so it’s still today). Both Steve and Bethany went with me. She likes to visit with everybody while I’m doing my therapy, and I wanted him to see the things I have to do. I think they’ll probably change a few things next week, though. After I rode the exercise bike, Cruz told me to get on the treadmill and jog. I just gave him “the look.” He was kidding. They give me a hard time. And I’m so sweet….you know I don’t do anything to deserve it  Last week I told Jimmy he’d better respect his elders, because if he doesn’t, I’m gonna hit him with my cane

Wanted: Agency Accountability

New details have surfaced in an international tragedy from 2001, in which the CIA mistakenly gave the order to shoot down a plane carrying a U.S. family of Baptist missionaries in Peru. According to Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-Mich.), a probe has uncovered serious wrongdoing on the part of the CIA and an internal cover-up that prevented lawmakers from holding the agency accountable. The probe blames CIA officials for “ignoring the rules of engagement” in a campaign to stop drug smugglers from flying in Peru’s airspace. A mother and her infant baby were killed as a result of the CIA’s negligence.

As the GOP’s ranking member on the Intelligence committee, Hoekstra is outraged. We echo his call for immediate hearings and urge Congress to take swift action to ensure that justice is finally served.

California Congress

In a surprise ambush yesterday, liberal House Democrats unseated longtime chairman Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) from his position on the Energy and Commerce Committee and replaced him with Rep. Harry Waxman (D-Calif.). Waxman’s coup is alarming to many Democrats, who see the move as a rebuff to the seniority system and an indication that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is veering their party “off the cliff.” While Dingell is far from pro-life, FRC recognized his willingness to work across the aisle.

Demoting Dingell because he isn’t “liberal enough” only divides the Democrats further. Several of the party’s rank and file spoke out on Thursday in protest. One member who refused to be identified even said that the leadership was “in orbit; they think it’s a California takeover.” With health care and sex education firmly in Waxman’s control, trouble is already brewing for the pro-family community. You may remember that Waxman was the one who used your taxpayer dollars to launch unsubstantiated attacks on the validity of abstinence education and pregnancy care centers.

As upsetting as the appointment is, FRC was relieved to learn from our sources on the Hill that the leadership will not pursue the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) next year. Thanks to FRC Action’s ads, more Americans are aware of FOCA’s devastating impact on the life movement. Now that our friends are rallying against FOCA, Democrats have decided the issue carries too much political risk. They plan to postpone the legislation until they can chip away at smaller pockets of the values movement.

With Waxman’s appointment and today’s story that President-elect Obama is delaying the repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, it seems the leadership plans to attack life and family by quietly dismantling things that won’t make front-page news like increasing taxpayer funding of abortions, ending conscience protections, and inhibiting free speech. Until they’ve paved the way with these incremental changes, liberals are putting off big ticket items like same-sex “marriage,” FOCA, and gays in the military. The outcry over FOCA should be a meaningful lesson for Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) that FRC will be a formidable foe in every battle over values — large or small.

80 Years Strong — and Counting!

While defending marriage is important, we should also take time to celebrate it. This week, FRC received a meaningful note from Phyllis Bosler in Illinois. She wanted to honor her parents, David and Velma Hamilton, on their 80th anniversary by sending FRC an $80 gift. “Dad is over 100 years old,” she writes. “My mother is 99 years old. I’m so grateful for your ministry and sacrifice to save Christian America.” What a wonderful way to celebrate such a milestone! We congratulate Phyllis’s parents and thank her for inspiring us with a story that motivates FRC to keep fighting for the long-term well being of families.

  1. I really think as we come close to Jesus and fall more and more in love with Him, our mind is renewed. We begin to want to do what will please Him. We are drawn to read His word, and this washes us and teaches us what is right. Our character begins to change. Our desires begin to change. I know for myself, if I concentrate on keeping all the rules and not goofing up, I always end up condemning myself, but if I concentrate on just loving God and wanting to please Him, I do what I should with joy and grace. ~~ So, jogging is still a few weeks away, huh? πŸ˜†

  4. @DKT1978 – Oh, I start reading through Romans and there is so much. I could post the whole book, but that would be a long post! πŸ˜† I’m really glad you enjoy our Bible Studies. And maybe we should just make John a regular prayer subject, to turn his heart toward the study of God’s word.
